Stop/Go: A Chance-Driven Game of Emotion and Uncertain Outcomes
Work KAthy Watts
A board game in stop/go red and green consists of four faced heads on dice ‘plinths’. Each face a very different expression, ranging for joy to horror.
The viewer is invited to invent the rules of the game and in doing so reflect upon chance and the different emotional outcomes from life’s series events, the meandering path and unexpected turns of life.
The work was exhibited in the D.C.A. artist research centre in 2014, prior to the Scottish referendum on independence. The group show was a collection of ideas relating to the possible outcomes of the upcoming event.
